Emergency Drydocking of VLCC Following Grounding
A fully laden VLCC experienced a grounding incident in the Adriatic Sea, sustaining significant bottom damage. The vessel owner needed urgent drydocking facilities capable of handling the 300,000 DWT vessel. Adriatic Shipyard mobilized within 24 hours, preparing our largest drydock for the emergency repair. The scope included 450 square meters of steel renewal, complete bottom blasting and coating, and shaft line inspection. Despite the complexity, repairs were completed in 28 days. Close coordination with class surveyors, P&I club, and cargo interests ensured minimal delays and proper documentation for insurance claims.
